What the Hell?

Teachers Can Carry Guns?

HARROLD, Texas — A tiny Texas school district may be the first in the nation to allow teachers and staff to pack guns for protection when classes begin later this month, a newspaper reported.

Trustees at the Harrold Independent School District approved a district policy change last October so employees can carry concealed firearms to deter and protect against school shootings, provided the gun-toting teachers follow certain requirements.

In order for teachers and staff to carry a pistol, they must have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun; must be authorized to carry by the district; must receive training in crisis management and hostile situations and have to use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls.

What does my wife have to do with your inability to get it?

"The gun follows you in case you feel lucky punk," is an allusion to a well know line from a Clint Eastwood movie, Dirty Harry. Eastwood's character says after catching a criminal and holding a gun to his head,

I know what you're thinkin', punk. You're thinkin' did he fire six shots or only five? Now to tell you the truth, I forgotten myself in all this excitement. But bein' this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and it'll blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question. Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?!
